How to get ready for Halloween

#1 Get a pumpkin and carve a design or face into it.

#2  Get lots of candy and put it into a bowl. Sweep the front steps and practice answering the door without using your hands (which are holding the candy bowl).

EXTRA TIP: check doorbells and knockers for functionality and accessibility.

#3 Get a costume that suits your real personality or  alter-ego! Practice getting into character, “RAR!”

The typical and actual Monday in Seattle

Seattle has a reputation for getting lots of rain. Usually that is a TOTAL exaggeration, but as of yesterday and the coming few days, remember to take the old  umbrella!

StickFiggy’s first e-book: Exploring India

Here it is! The first digital StickFiggy book! In these pages, Stickfiggy goes to India with a little girl named  Priya to learn about the country, her people and customs. This book is listed for ages 2-5.  Read Exploring India before purchasing.

Note: The Indian festival of Diwali is coming up! The cover illustration (right) is from the page featuring that holiday.

StickFiggy partners with Memetales.com

This summer, I had the good fortune of meeting and collaborating with Maya Bisineer, the wonderful and ingenius creator of Memetales.com. Memetales is a tech platform that serves as virtual kid-lit community offering stories, crafts, and more. The publishing industry is changing and Memetales is certainly one of the pioneers! I’m thrilled to be a part of it.

Why StickFiggy loved this project

I’ve always had an interest in other cultures and customs so I was naturally open to the idea of partnering with Maya’s global-education series. Also, the driving goal with StickFiggy  is to offer a whimsical respite where essential truths and simple humor take us back to the sweetness of life. In the projects Exploring India, the richness of a vast culture is boiled down to a handful of beautiful things such as monuments, dress, & holidays, and simple things such as food, family, and language. I felt that this fit perfectly with StickFiggy  and allowed him a chance to contribute a little whimsy to and fun to the experience of learning about India.

Word on the street

Excerpt from Memetales: “The kids just LOVE Stickfiggy! What can I say – they just love watching Stickfiggy and the awesome things he says and does. They love this book because they get to find HIM in every page. The book is colorful and an absolute fun introduction to India. All kids really enjoy this book. Every time we read it to them it gets them talking about all the other cultures, festivals, languages and food. Isn’t that what we all really want? A global awareness for our kids and openness and curiosity for all other cultures?”

It was great fun! Thanks to Maya and all the kids and parents at the friendliest tech publishing platform:  Memetales!  Keep up to date with Memetales on Facebook.
