After deliberation for a long time about the actual NEED for a super awesome new iMac, which of course had to be even more powerful than a standard one to run the Adobe design programs, I bit the bullet and got it! Woo hoo!
What does this mean for StickFiggy and people who like him? Well, basically I’ll be able to design and offer more and better of the following with my original teeny tiny StickFiggy drawings:
*merchandise like t-shirts and iPhone/iPad skins.
*transform the iPhone StickFiggy books into the format necessary for the iPad.
*large scale designs for wall art.
*real book layout which is what traditional publishers want.
*better layout for greeting cards in the professional printer format.
Anyhow, I made this little video mostly for fun and to show you a peek behind the website presence. Also see how easy unpacking and setting up a Mac can be!
Cheers,
-Jane
Did you have a good Father’s Day? StickFiggy is not a father yet but he was able to help a baby bird that fell from its nest! Watch the little story on YouTube below.
Just weeks after the Memetales app launched for iPhone, thousands of children and parents have already read Bedtime for StickFiggy.
It is the standout story as far as numbers of reads on the app. I guess there are a lot of parents who are EXTREMELY motivated to get their kids thinking about how great bedtime can be!
Yay to the power of technology!
This story introduces kids ages 2-4 to the main character StickFiggy , the stick-figure in boots and invites them to take him through his bedtime routine. It is very simple and a little funny.
One new user wrote in, “I downloaded (the) app and my daughter (2 1/2) and I love it!!! Keep up the amazing work!”
*Please send us your feedback if you explore StickFiggy stories on the app. Reading and learning on the iPhone is new territory and your input (and the things kids say) are greatly appreciated! -Jane
Mom’s with Apps, a resource for parents to help them “find the best educational and family-friendly apps in the App Store,” gave their thumbs-up to the gamified children’s reader called MeMetales (pronounced “me-me-tales”) where StickFiggy stories are first available. We’re thrilled because this means more parent and children will find little StickFiggy and then there is reason to make MORE and MORE stories!
In case you’re still a little dizzied by this whole app concept, they described MeMetales very well:
“Children earn points and stickers for reading and even unlock games (one game included). All books come with audio too! Parents are informed of a child’s reading progress through email notifications. For the first release, MeMeTales has partnered with 2 publishers (Speakaboos and Pratham) as well as one independent children’s book author/illustrator StickFiggy.” Read the full bit here.
Don’t have an iPhone yet? No worries, you can sign up for the regular on-line version at MeMetales.com. iPad version coming soon!
