Welcome! Thanks for visiting!
Who is StickFiggy? He is the little stick-figure with BIG stories that show and tell.
Who is he for? Generally children 3-8 and their very happy parents. However, some content is designed to bring modern whimsey to the endless childhood within us all!
Where is StickFiggy?
He exists in a whimsical world with story book classics like pirates, talking animals, castles, and princesses and occasional modern day details.
Why? What purpose?
StickFiggy is a demonstration of confidence, compassion, chivalry, and curiosity. His temper and tendency to be forgetful provide a way to to show children some of their own challenges in a humorous way.
What makes StickFiggy’s content different?
Design-wise, Jane draws in a way that both feels retro & super-modern. It addresses the current trend to embrace styles that harken back to simpler times, “back to basics,” while still pushing forward to remain relevant to the modern child’s world. The design of StickFiggy- the character with only 1 feature on the face at a time encourages greater participation of imagination and interpretation from readers/viewers.

Hi, I’m the author and artist behind the StickFiggy concept. My passion for stick figures has a funny story. This is how it happened:
Snowbank Stick Figure I saw a nordic ski coach draw stick figures in the snow banks to show correct body technique- it communicated better than 1000 words- cool huh?! I did it too when I was a coach 10 years later. I’m also really good at drawing bunnies with my ski pole in snow.
Summer Olympics- I remember watching the olympics as a little kid- during a behind-the-scenes special, they showed how high divers learned their routines of twists and back flip dives by watching a computer animated stick figure. Of course, it was a dinosaur of a computer program…black screens, neon figures, etc…but it stuck in my mind.

MEMORIZING WORDS While learning a foreign language, it was easier to memorize words if I drew a little picture to go with it. Hello stick figures! Other book margins started getting “illustrated” with figures. What good communicators!
+
DESK JOB Notes and faxes for colleagues started getting jazzed up with little industry related figures. Mostly it was for fun. Welcome to the custom short comics stage! I’m an entertainer!

OOops! I’m playing… I had an art studio where I was supposed to be oil painting -you know, serious gallery stuff. Well, I found myself RARELY painting and always doodling around with stick figures. Um, I’m talking like 4 years of this- no joke. I felt very guilty! Finally, I noticed that something more was happening.
= StickFiggy was born!
So, as my formal “artist’s statement…”
I draw because it makes me feel so good. It takes me out of this world and puts me into a place more pleasant than in ordinary thoughts. If one of these drawings gives you a good feeling, a smile, something that speaks to your endless inner childhood, then you have what I’m trying to share. That’s it! And if you are a child, I hope you especially like my drawings. Never think that you ever have to stop coloring!

Some really nice comments from people:
“StickFiggy is so happy! How could you ever feel cranky? The design…they are so simple and light… I LOVE THEM!”
“You are onto something here! I don’t know how to express my reaction, but it was very strong and happy.”
“If upon viewing “StickFiggy” leaves me uplifted, humane, and connected to nature then you are a success with this creation because I am all of these emotions.”
“That is the sweetest card I have ever seen! An absolutely perfect combination – my dad would have loved it as well. Simple! He believed in “less is more”
“These are so serene! They are stick figures…but they are not. So much more…the pictures draw you in and then you start seeing more and more in the subtle details. They feel big!”"StickFiggy seems to hearken back to simpler times. I think people need that now.
“I always feel like I’m being quizzed when I look at these. Like it is a puzzle to figure out. You have a way of stirring up lots of brain activity with these!”
